A lot of my posts on this site are on novel writing and my personal writing process in particular, so I thought it was only fair to include some of my writing for you all to see.
Please note that I wrote this in the very beginning of eighth grade and mailed it off to the Awards without very much editing! I'm currently working on finishing the first draft of the novel and revising and editing what I've already written. I hit a block with it a few months ago, and even began working on another story. I went back to HTU later, and after rereading it I decided it needed to undergo major revisions before I could start working on it again. What you'll be able to see is only the unedited version, so don't judge too harshly. :)
This is the excerpt I submitted to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in 2016. It earned a national Gold Medal, and it's titled Here's To Us. You can view it at this link: HTU.
